Purpose is Power: IIC Partners Global Meeting

IIC Partners recently met in Lisbon for its Global Meeting, bringing together search firms from across the world for a three-day event to reflect on the current state of the executive search industry, to share best practices and to discuss opportunities for business development.
Our focus was on discussing the impact of changes in the talent market. With the strong demand for executive talent across many industries, and the power that is in the hands of candidates, how can search firms advise and direct their clients to ensure that they are attracting the best person to a role?
Ewa Olszewski led a discussion with panelists Gerald Knol, Renee Arrington and Roberto Ravagnani focused on the best way to communicate expectations on the new market realities with clients. One topic that was raised is the rising importance of an employer brand. Knowing how to effectively provide feedback to a client on their reputation and how to ensure that their brand is attracting critical executives to key roles is an essential part of aligning clients, search consultants and candidates.
The power of IIC Partners relationships was evident in a presentation by Vanessa Dalas and Jean-Michel Lucas, who talked about many of the assignments they have worked on collectively across France and Belgium. IIC Partners enables them the flexibility to serve many clients together, but with a mutual understanding that enables a constructive and respectful collaboration.
Frode Hepsø Johannson discussed the recruitment and interviewing process that Visindi, the leading search firm in Norway, have created to ensure the optimal outcome for their clients. Leadership is about insight. The successful candidate for a search does not just have to be right for today, but in the future as well. A rigorous interviewing process, alongside assessments, observations and multiple reference checks enables them to find the right candidate amongst the very best executives.
As always with an IIC Partners event, our members had the opportunity to explore a new culture, enjoying port tasting, Fado music and an afternoon tour of Lisbon. Connecting with colleagues from around the world and immersing in a new culture helps us to grow as leaders, and to develop strong and lasting personal relationships.
